People are attracted to light. We live during the day and we love to spend time in the sun. A lot of people are lost in the darkest months of the year, winter. During those days we use artificial light more than ever; the fireplace is often the most favorite place of the house, we burn countless candles and christmas lights make everybody happy.

My hometown, Ghent, has found a wonderful way to illuminate the dark winter days. For the fourth time they organised a Festival of Lights. From the 31st of january until the 4th of february visitors could follow a trail through the city with various light sculptures, art, installations & projections.

No better way to light the new year.
